Privacy Policy

NikonNet values the privacy of its members and visitors. This privacy policy describes our information collection practices, so that you may better understand what type of information we collect from you, and what we do with that information.

What personal information does NikonNet collect?

NikonNet collects names, street and email addresses from registered members. NikonNet also asks for additional, optional information through its registration form—including, but not limited to, digital imaging interests and experiences—and collects that information when provided.

On occasion, we may request financial information, such as income level, through online surveys. Our server also places a "cookie"—a string of text and numbers—into a file on each visitor's hard drive. Each time the visitor returns to our site, the cookie is resent to our server so that we may track login time. In addition, we collect each visitor's IP address, which is a number that can be used to identify that visitor's Internet service provider, among other things.

How does NikonNet use the information it collects?

NikonNet is committed to respecting your privacy. NikonNet may disclose information we have collected from you and/or content you have made available on our site in the following limited circumstances, and also may disclose such information and/or content to others when NikonNet believes in good faith that the law requires it, or to protect the rights or property of NikonNet or its visitors. Information submitted at the time of registration—including, but not limited to, name and email address—may be used for marketing and promotional purposes by NikonNet and may be shared with other companies who offer a co-branded version of our site.

NikonNet will not otherwise identify you personally to other companies, or to any advertisers. NikonNet provides demographic information in aggregate form without identifying any user personally to advertisers on our site. We may use information provided by you when you participate in contests or surveys on our site to send information about NikonNet to you, or to provide information to advertisers in aggregate form. If you do not want NikonNet to share your name and email address with other companies or to use this information for our own marketing or promotional purposes, please notify us at privacy@nikon.net. We use cookies to determine whether you are logged on to our site, to maintain your session, and to automatically log you out if your computer remains idle for a specified amount of time when using our service. We do not use cookies to track your steps through our site. We collect IP addresses for the purposes of system administration: to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our Web site, and to gather aggregate demographic information about our visitors. Other companies which provide services on our site, or which advertise on our site, may use cookies or collect other information about you. NikonNet does not control collection or use of information by third party advertisers. You should contact these companies or advertisers directly if you have any questions about their collection or use of information about you.

Content shared by you through NikonNet is available only to those selected by you. When you are voluntarily participating in and sharing Content through NikonNet, keep in mind that the Content disclosed by you can be viewed, collected and used by others that you have shared the Content with.
